Functional Neurological Disorders Masterclass

Overview

This one day interactive course will allow clinicians to gain knowledge and practical skills in Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). Workshop topics include:

  • Making a diagnosis based on positive clinical signs
  • Effective management
  • Explaining the diagnosis to patients
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

Workshop structure

In this workshop, Dr Alex Lehn will commence by outlining contemporary, evidence-based theory and management of FND. Small group sessions will provide an opportunity to consolidate skills. Trained simulated patients using clinical scenarios will allow participants to practice diagnosis, management, and holding difficult conversations in a confidential setting. The workshop will be tailored to best meet the individual needs of the participants. There will also be a session to establish networks of health professionals involved with the care of patients with FND. The workshop will be delivered by an inter-professional team with extensive experience in effectively managing FND patients.
