Congratulations to Mater Education’s newest diploma graduates

Released On: 07/07/2017

Mater Education has celebrated the success of its largest student cohort to date, with 68 Diplomas of Nursing and two Diplomas of Anaesthetic Technology awarded this week.

Family and friends came in droves to show their support for the talented graduates who are now confident and qualified to step on to the ward, after 18 months of intensive learning and clinical placement across the Mater campus.

In her address to the students, Katherine Jackman, Mater Education Head of Discipline (Diploma of Nursing), congratulated the graduates on their momentous achievements and imparted her words of wisdom.

“Each of you have successfully completed a complex and challenging nursing program that combines the very best of Mater’s nursing traditions—compassionate, patient-centred care, based on contemporary, evidence-based nursing practice models, with a strong focus on achieving high levels of clinical competence, improving patient safety and facilitating optimal patient outcomes,” Ms Jackman said.

“You have the power to change lives. Whilst you have now finished as a formal student with us, your success will continue through learning. Continue to be curious and take every opportunity to learn – from colleagues of all health disciplines, from your patients and their families. Observe, question, listen, reflect and seek feedback as you continue your self-leadership journey.”

The ceremony was also an exciting milestone for Mater Education, graduating its very first Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology students, and its 500th Diploma of Nursing student since beginning the program in 2010.

If you know anyone interested in studying a Diploma of Nursing or another health qualification with Mater Education, expressions of interest for our 2018 courses are now open.
