Stem Cell Reinfusion Program

This program will provide comprehensive evidence-based information and practical skills in effectively managing autologous stem cell reinfusion.

Program topics, practical skills stations and simulation will include:

  • physiology of stem cells
  • transplant work up
  • clinical care during infusion
  • managing patient reactions and escalation of care
  • trouble shooting infusion complications
  • safe defrosting of cells

Who should attend?

This course is relevant for health professionals working in haematology transplant or those with an interest in stem cell reinfusion. This includes:
  • Medical Officers
  • Registered Nurses
  • Enrolled Nurses

Course structure

This course is delivered in two parts: an e-learning module and a practical simulation module.

E-Learning module
Once enrolled, you must complete an e-learning module, which will take approximately three to five hours. This e-learning module will provide you with the knowledge required to underpin the practical component of the course.

Practical simulation module
Following successful completion of the e-learning module, participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills and consolidate their knowledge during a half-day, interactive workshop.
Here, they will use skill stations and immersive simulation with realistic clinical equipment, under the guidance of current clinical experts.

This course will require approximately three - five hours to complete the e-learning module, prior to the half-day practical workshop component.
