Mater Education kickstarts careers in healthcare
Mater Education courses offer pathways for high school students to gain a certification while completing their senior years of schooling, therefore kickstarting a career in healthcare with a nationally recognised qualification.
Do you have Year 10, 11 and 12 students interested in a career in the dynamic and fast-paced world of healthcare? Mater Education’s High School Health Adventure program is designed for them!
High School Health Adventure is a program that has been designed to create a realistic experience of 'a day in the life' of a health professional. The utilisation of simulation with manikins, skills stations, digital technology and case-based scenarios help to create this real-world learning in a unique environment for high school students.
This hands on, immersive experience will cover basic health professional understanding of anatomy and physiology, giving students a hands-on experience of managing patients requiring basic life support and emergency response as well as supporting patients and their family through medical procedures such as surgery and childbirth.
Students will have access to current practicing clinicians including medical officers, nurses, midwives, physiotherapist, pharmacists, social workers and occupational therapists, who will be able to share their experience as a health professional and provide an opportunity for the students to ask questions.
This program is delivered on-site at Mater Education’s world-class medical simulation facility and students will be immersed in this fast-paced world, learning about healthcare. Traditionally delivered as a two-day experience, it is now offered as a one-day course. Students can discover which career pathway they want to pursue, whether it is maternity, nursing, physiotherapy or general medical.
